Good news London! Multicoloured bagels are now available to buy at our favourite department store Selfridges. This craze apparently started in New York – at Rossillo’s Bagel Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where the colourful bagels are served with Nutella or cream cheese, then blended with hundreds and thousands for a sweet overload. Oh, America.

Now the trend from New York has now arrived at Selfridges. Selfridges is the first major retailer to stock Rainbow Bagels and they are available from the Foodhall £4.99 for 5. Made by Yummies Deli the team carefully plait up to six different coloured doughs to create the hypnotising rainbow effect. If you’re scared by the colour, the bagels are actually still savoury, so don’t worry you can still have your favourite filling. Their technique means they can make up to 100 Rainbow Bagels an hour (compared 2,500 plain bagels) – you can buy them to top with your favourite toppings, such as peanut butter, cream cheese or, my personal favourite, coconut oil. Weird, I know.

If you’d like to try them elsewhere, you can also buy rainbow bagels at the Beigel Shop on Brick Lane for 5op each. Beigel Shop is a London institution – they’ve been serving the best salt beef bagels and Jewish-inspired bakes to hungry East Londoners for years. Taste one of their smoked salmon bagels and you’ll know why. Find it at 155 Brick Lane, E1 6SB.
