AW14 Make-Up: The EditBy Kate Rooney
An unusual plot twist occurred on the runway for AW14. Lips played a low key addition to the beauty looks whilst the eyes were amped up with smouldering “slept in” kohl liner, complete with dramatic fluttery lashes. Luminous skin added another dimension to many ballerina-inspired looks featuring swept back buns and fresh, rosy cheeks.

BASE
Hydrated, plump complexions were noted at many of the shows giving the models a radiant, youthful look. Dior’s DiorSkin Star Foundation offers light but build-able coverage giving the illusion of real skin with a dewy, lit-from within finish. Just when you thought you’d found your dream foundation Dior pull out all of the stops, again.
Topshop’s Cream Blush in Pulse adds a delicate sheen over the cheeks with a subtle wash of colour. The cream to powder formula allows for a light application creating a soft shimmer which is incredibly wearable. Translate into a night look by buffing a little extra product onto the highest point of the cheekbones.

EYES
Gucci’s doe-eyed beauties displayed a full fluttery look which was achieved with lash extensions on both upper and lower lash lines. Stila’s Mile High Lashes Mascara performs on both lengthening and volumising to provide the ultimate false lash effect.
Over at Topshop Unique, the models wore a heavily blended black smokey kohl, which leaned towards an “I woke up like this” look. Cool girls alert. Lord & Berry’s Couture Kohl Kajal in Deep Black is a creamy, highly pigmented pencil which glides on with ease. A high impact liner which doesn’t budge.
Allowing the focus to be on the lashes or liner means perfecting the overall appearance of the lid. Clarins’ Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base provides a brightening foundation for whatever product you chose to apply next.
LIPS & NAILS
