Looking for a new restaurant to try this month? Here’s 5 of our favourite new openings in June for all your dining needs:

1. For a New Branch: Granger & Co.

What: Bringing sydney-style dining to Chelsea, Granger & Co. has opened its doors on Pavilion Road. Located near Sloane Square tube station, the restaurant complete with private dining room and sun-drenched terrace is going to become your new go-to SW1 spot.

Eat and Drink: There’s acai bowls, coconut bread, and bigger breakfast salads of courgette fritters with halloumi, siyez, kale and zhoug to start. At lunchtime zingy salads such as warm turmeric spiced chicken, slaw, lime and coconut dressing and raw tuna and avocado poke with brown rice sit alongside classics including the iconic ricotta hotcakes and the fresh Aussie with jasmine tea hot smoked salmon, poached eggs, greens, avocado and cherry tomatoes. Eclectic, colourful plates embracing bold Asian flavours continued at dinner with the ever popular yellow fish curry, spiced butternut squash and cucumber relish (available as a vegan version), as well as small plates and dishes exclusive to the Chelsea restaurant including crab and kohlrabi salad, tarragon and lemon zest; lovage borani with roast summer beans and walnuts; and a dairy-free chocolate pot with fresh turmeric crumb to finish.

2. For a New Cocktail Bar: Merchant House of Fleet Street

What: A hidden bar has opened just off Fleet Street that is set to reclaim Ireland and the Scottish coastline as the true homeland of whiskey. With over 500 whiskies, Merchant House of Fleet Street abandons any preconceived ideas about whiskey, serving up fresh and floral cocktails in a super swish setting.

The Lowdown: The menu avoids the richer ‘armchair’ cocktails often associated with whiskey and uses botanicals and blooms, with signature serves including: Emigré, a heady blend of Pure Pot Still Whiskey, apple, rhubarb and elderflower, Kings Country, a zesty drink made with Offaly Whiskey, fresh citrus, peach, basil and salt and the fruity, Tartan Pimpernel, a mixture of Peated Whiskey, aloe vera water and bee pollen raspberry wine. There are whiskies from some of the British Isle’s remotest areas, such as a 35 year old, Old Pulteney, from Wick, right on the very northern tip of mainland Scotland; a 30 year old Highland Park from the Orkney Isles; and a variety of lesser known bottlings, alongside an impressive array of highly sought after American whiskies.

3. For a New Ice Cream Spot: Chin Chin Club

What: If you’ve tried Chin Chin Lab’s brownwich (a scoop of ice cream between a brownie/cookie hybrid), you understand our glee when we heard the news about the new Chin Chin Club opening. Situated on Greek Street in Soho the new ice cream parlour come dessert restaurant is dishing out the puddingy goodness far and wide.

The Lowdown: Brand new dishes at Chin Chin Club do not disappoint. The choux-wich is a choux ice cream sandwich with Persian pistachio and olive oil ice cream, and the avo taco – a purple corn waffle taco fillled with avocado ice cream and topped with house cream and crunchy fried corn is a sweet and savoury mad up that we can get on board with. Other flavours appearing on the menu include strawberry and hay, sugar-free grapefruit, and raspberry and lychee.

4. For a New Subterranean Bar: Downstairs at Machiya

What: Machiya (the new Japanese restaurant by the folks behind Kanada-Ya) has launched a brand new basement bar, Downstairs at Machiya, this week. Offering an extensive selection of sake, Japanese whiskey and creative cocktails, the new bar also serves a menu of drinking snacks including wagyu sliders and pop-katsu skewers.

Some unusual Japanese whiskies and sakes can also be found Downstairs at Machiya, including Yamazaki Limited Edition 2015, Taketsuru 21, Yamazaki 18 and Ryoma Japanese Rum. And for small bites, there’s a wagyu slider topped with a fried egg, lotus root chips with miso-mustard mayo, a pop-katsu skewer with katsu sauce, and fiery Machiya hot wings.
