If you’re looking for somewhere healthy and delicious in central London, this is the place to come. Daylesford Organic is all about quality; fresh, seasonal produce delivered daily from their farms’ market garden, artisan cheese and breads from their farm’s creamery and bakery, organic meat from their animals – it’s no surprise the food here tastes of such good quality. This is the perfect place for brunch with friends, catch-up suppers, dinner with your mum or a big group get-together – basically, it’s the ideal restaurant for any time of the day.

We love that there’s an adjoining bakery and cook shop, which is perfect for picking up a few healthy goodies on the way out – their breads are simply sensational. I’ve dined here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and can happily declare it’s one of my favourite healthy restaurants in London because, it all tastes so good, you’ll totally forget that you’re chowing down on veggies and an abundance of goodness.

The food varies throughout the day. For breakfast, I’m a huge sucker for their toasted fruit and walnut bread with seasonal jam and butter. It’s one of those truly simple pleasures that you’ll just want to eat all winter long. Their poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and hollandaise is also divine, and a tad lighter than your average rich eggy dish.

For lunch, you *must* try their quiche of the day – always seasonal, freshly baked and full of veggies, the quiches here are truly a thing of beauty. Served simply with a side salad or a mixture of the salads of the day, including a healthy take on slaw with Daylesford Slaw Raw with cabbage, carrot, beets, spicy toasted cashews with chilli, ginger and soy dressing or Orchard Raw with green kale, heritage apples, sugar snaps, toasted seeds and honey mustard dressing. Glorious.

Even though the cafe is known for its day-time menu and brunch specials, I was surprised to find that their dinner menu exceeded all expectations. In the evening, you can dine on delights such as homemade soups, fresh fish and healthy comfort food. I started with the salmon and stone bass sashimi with avocado and tamari ginger dipping sauce, which is one of the most beautiful, light dishes I’ve ever had in London. Truly, so beautiful and fresh, with a wonderfully spiced dipping sauce.

For mains, I sampled the avocado on walnut and summer squash toasts, which is a lovely, smooth avocado dip with crunchy homemade toasts, and a selection of their daily-changing salads. The Daylesford Greek Salad with heritage tomatoes, oregano, cucumber and Greek-style cow’s milk cheese is so fresh and delicious, and you can’t miss the Slaw Raw with the perfect combination of crunchy cashews, sweet beetroot and spicy chilli, it’s divine.

If you’re looking for something hearty and warming, my guest absolutely loved the Daylesford cottage pie – slow-cooked beef in rich red wine and tomatoes, topped with mashed heritage potatoes from their farm’s market garden and a generous handful of their cheddar. It’s one of those dishes that really warms you from within, and you can truly taste the quality of the meat and cheese here – there’s no cutting corners on produce, that’s for sure. Our meal finished with a sweet treat of their Chocolate Nemesis, served with vanilla crème fraîche – a rich, indulgent, yet light chocolate mousse dessert which is the perfect ending to the perfect, healthy meal. We all need a treat from time to time, no?

There’s a great range of healthy juices, smoothies, teas and botanical cocktails. I opted for their homemade ginger kombucha, because I’m trendy like that, and my guest loved their b balanced cold press juice with apple, cucumber, leafy greens, celery, lemon and ginger. If you need something stronger, on the weekends I’m partial to a Daylesford Mary with golden cherry tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, lemon and Tabasco. Dreams.

In my eyes, Daylesford Organic can do no wrong. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this will always be my healthy restaurant of choice in London. Get the fruit and walnut bread and one of their killer soya lattes, you can thank me later.
