Autumn is here and we couldn’t be happier. We say, bring on the cable knits and warming bowls of porridge. This week in London is a right ol’ meat fest – from a new fried chicken site to a new steak menu, here’s what you should be eating in the capital this week. Let’s get munching:

1. For a New Dessert: Bijou Choux x Selfridges

bijouchoux_veerleevens12

What: The cronut is so last year, 2016 is all about the Le Chouxnut. Bijou Choux is bringing their unique éclair-doughnut hybrid to Selfridges this month. Inspired by a love of choux fostered during nostalgic trips eating around the finest Parisian patisseries, founder Harpreet Baura has developed a range of products that celebrate the heritage of these classic desserts – but with a brand new touch of glamour. And a whole lotta flavour.

What: You’ve heard the rave reviews about Pitt Cue, eaten their short rib and have become a firm fan ever since. Well, Pitt Cue lovers, you’re meaty prayers have just been answered yet again. From the creators of Pitt Cue comes their sibling outpost, Little Pitt, a brand new restaurant for meat fiends in Carnaby’s Newburgh Quarter.

Why: A fresh concept, but with all the famous and popular dishes of Pitt Cue, expect everything from pulled pork buns to caramel ribs and chilli slaw. Other highlights from the menu include; smoked beef and bone marrow bun, and the chicken and anchovy bun, with a side of pickled shiitake or dripping baked beans. The bone marrow mash is insanely good, as is the bone marrow beans and green chilli slaw. Wash it all down with pickled backs, a selection of bourbons, and craft beers. There’s a no reservations policy, but the wait is so worth it. Trust us.

Why: A brand-new weekend brunch menu has also been launched helping those suffering from the-morning-after-the-night-before recover with an island-inspired start to the day. Kick off with either the full Jamaican breakfast: eggs, pulled pork and spicy beans or the vegetarian alternative with sweet potato wedges, avocado and portobello mushrooms, or be wild with cola-cured gammon with sweet potato fries with a crispy fried egg. If you’re feeling virtuous, try the exotic fruit bowl served in a pineapple, or build your own acai and pitaya bowls with a plethora of toppings to choose from. The evening menu has been re jigged as well, new additions include a tropical seabream ceviche with cassava chips, a jerk salmon fillet with a paper thin root salad, topped with a tangy citrus and sesame dressing.

What: Every week more vegan, wheat-free, gluten-free, dairy-free pop-ups open in London. What they may have in health credentials and tastiness, they sometimes lack in atmosphere. Redemption Bar manages to hit both. Ibiza house tunes with less of the sense of regret the next day.

Why: Munch on cashew cheese raw lasagne, raw courgetti topped with brazil nut cheese, melt in the mouth tahini topped aubergines and sweet potato served with pomegranate encrusted coconut yoghurt. Proving that being healthy doesn’t mean being boring, naughty but-oh-so-nice. Offering a place away from temptation they say which still feels like a treat. Brits do love to booze, but Redemption offers a place where you can have that pretty cocktail, it just so happens it features coconut water. Think luxe interiors, vibey music but also a healthy amount of courgetti.

Why: Start as you mean to go on and don’t be shy. Feast on the incredibly moreish fish tacos – crispy battered pollock served on blue tortillas with a smoky chipotle mayo. Then, of course, there’s the classic, crispy CAU’s salt and pepper squid. Move through to mains and ponder over a selection of sizzling dishes. Making a return after popular demand is the aubergine lasagne; replacing pasta with layers of aubergine, piled high with aubergine, tomato, melted cheese and fresh basil. If meat is on your mind, feast on 220g of tender Tapa De Cuadril – cut from the top of the rump, this signature dish is served the Brazilian way – thinly sliced and flash grilled. As well as a peppery rocket salad, choose a side to accompany your steak, and any of the mains, including thin or chunky chips, truffle mac ‘n cheese, or polenta.
