Travelling through Heathrow this Summer? Lucky you – your journey is about to get even better. Launching on Saturday 1st July, Heathrow’s six-week Summer Gin Festival will celebrate the best of British gin with a jam-packed schedule to satisfy even the most discerning gin drinker. Here’s the run-down on the festival:
Heathrow Summer Gin Festival: Why
Heathrow is the UK’s hub airport, home to more than 80 airlines connecting to more than 180 destinations. Every year Heathrow welcomes over 75 million passengers with a commitment to making every journey better. Heathrow and World Duty Free sell around 250,000 bottles of gin each year, an average of just under 700 bottles per day. Over 40 varieties of gin are sold at Heathrow, and of these 96% are British made.
Heathrow Summer Gin Festival: The Lowdown
To celebrate the occasion, Heathrow has teamed up with Chase Distillery to create an exclusive GB gin, only available at the UK’s biggest international airport. 10,000 bottles of the new Heathrow Exclusive GB Gin will be available to purchase at Heathrow from 1st July. The distinctive dark green bottle has a union flag on the front and prominent GB marking to signify the very British drink. The festival will give passengers the opportunity to enjoy exclusive gin cocktails and dishes infused with the spirit in a number of restaurants throughout the airport, as well as samples, masterclasses and experts to help you choose your favourite gin.
Heathrow Summer Gin Festival: What to Expect
Gin, gin and more gin. Expect to come away having learnt something new about Britain’s favourite drink – just make sure you leave enough time to make your flight! This unique festival will provide passengers with the opportunity to enjoy exclusive gin cocktails and dishes infused with the spirit in a number of restaurants throughout the airport, as well as samples, masterclasses and experts to help people choose their favourite gin.
Plus, purchase any bottle of gin over £29 and you’ll receive a free box of limited edition destination inspired G&T-bags. With infusions replicating flavours from three of the top destinations Heathrow flies to – the USA, India and Sweden – they infuse in gin and tonic for an enhanced flavour experience.
